Costume Con 32 starts THURSDAY.
JESUS MURPHY CHRIST. In order to get everything done that I want to, I’ve made a strict schedule. I mostly stuck to it.
Oh Shi- knees. SCANDAL!
I also put up her Costume Page, though there’s no full body pictures yet. YET.
90% Complete – *$#&$#^@%
Skewers, The crafter’s friend.
Thank god it was Easter Weekend, no pun intended. Without a 4-day weekend (yay government job!) I wouldn’t be ready for Costume Con. Period. I just, yeah. I’d probably be crying in a corner of my cubicle, hand sewing right now.
I should probably be hand sewing right now…
All the armor pieces and horns have now been painted with Tremclad’s hammered metal to create an aged feel, and help grip the weathering details that I then added. In order to help me spray (and later attach) the pieces, I pierced them with the hot tool, then stuck skewers through to keep the paint from clogging the holes. This also helped them stay up, and gave me a way to move them around without touching the surface.
Had to get creative with the horns though.
Once things were dry, I set about weathering them and detailing with paint. I’ll probably do a mini tutorial on how I did it after CC-32, but for now just know it’s a messy, messy job. I found paint on my nose 3 days later. And by ‘I found’, I mean my brother found, at Easter.
I have learnt nothing from Weiss.
What’s done and what’s on the docket for tonight:
SO MUCH TO DO.
SPC – Mermaid
Okay, let’s do this.
I’ll sleep in the van on the way to Toronto…
