Fabrics & Things!
Cosplay Fabrics has a new line of fabric coming out soon, and for all you Jedi and Sith I think this will be right up your alley! It can be tricky to find double-fabric (a different colour on each side) so this is pretty exciting.
If you need fabric that you can’t find at your local store, there’s some great online shops that are pretty speedy with delivery. I tend to use Mood fabrics and Fabricville the most, although I get all ( and I mean all) my corset supplies from Farthingales which is a Canadian company and has amazing customer service.
WCS – World Cosplay Summit
WCS Finals – Japan

In Nagoya, the WCS main competition took place, and Canada made it to the finals but ultimately didn’t place in the top three. Indonesia came out on top with a gorgeous Trinity Blood cosplay.
WCS Canadian Qualifiers 2017
Meanwhile, that SAME WEEKEND, the Canadian WCS Qualifier took place with ten teams competing to represent Canada in 2017. The competition was really stiff, and I have to say that while I’m glad I didn’t go through that kind of stress this year, I really missed being on stage.
Also something super cool was hearing that Team Canada 2016 and some other WCS teams had stayed up in Japan to watch the qualifiers live. It was like 3am local time.

I snuck backstage after the show and I have to say that having examined their costumes up close, the worksmanship was top-notch.
CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM FELLOWSHEEP COSPLAY, Canadian Reps 2017!!

They did an amazing skit that had the audience in giggles as they performed a…’unique’ version of Sleeping Beauty as Sakura and Syaoran.
While I won’t be writing up a full Con report like I’ve done in the past, Otakuthon 2016 was amazing. I managed to balance my urge to be social and see and do things with resting enough so I didn’t burn myself out, and the lack of stress and general-feeling-better-ness made for a wonderful time.
I got to see friends I don’t have the chance to often, (Shushuwafflez, and the other East Coasters) and meet new folks like the WCS qualifier teams and a great Geralt Cosplayer on Saturday while I was Yennefer.
Also! OMG. I had so many lovely people come up to me when I was out of costume and tell me how much they enjoyed this blog. I was floored, I mean, I just started writing this because I like writing and I like cosplay and now I’ve had people tell me they read it weekly and look forward to each post, and others tell me that the post on life and balancing has helped them refocus and centre themselves on what’s important.
I can’t even express how awesome this was to hear. Thank you so much to all of you who do read this. <3 I’m squishing you all in a big virtual hug.
All in all, Otakuthon was A+, would Con again.
